1. When is your personal data collected?

a) If you visit the Angst+Pfister website and APSOparts Online Shop (without logging on)

When you visit the area of our online site that does not require you to log on, the website server automatically retains some general technical information. This includes the IP address of the device you are using to access the website (anonymised), details of the browser type, the internet service provider and the operating system in use.

b) If you use the APSOparts Online Shop (with login) and parts of the Angst+Pfister website that require completing online forms and email traffic.

When using the APSOparts Online Shop in the login-restricted area, in addition all the registration data and all the data input or entered by the user during use of the software are saved. This applies in particular when you register, submit orders, complete online forms, participate in questionnaires or competitions, correspond with us either online or offline or come into contact with us through social media, blogs or other interactive media.

By registering or sending personal data to us you agree to the scope and extent of the editing, use and transfer of your personal data as described in the purposes of this Data Protection Policy.

2. Data security

We apply technical and organisation security measures, which comply with recognised market standards, to protect the personal data we store against unintended, unlawful or unauthorised manipulation, erasure, alteration, access, transfer or use as well as against partial or complete loss. The Angst+Pfister’s and APSOparts’ servers are housed in Switzerland in several certified and high-security computer centres. The connection to our servers is secured with 256-bit SSL encryption. We backup customer data regularly. To prevent data loss due to an extreme event (e.g. damage to the computer centre from an earthquake), the encrypted backups are stored in parallel in several computer centres in Switzerland. Our security measures are constantly updated and improved in line with technological progress. We will not accept liability for any loss of data, or third-party access to and use of data. We can provide no guarantee of the security of data transferred via the internet; when transferring data by email in particular, there is a risk of it being accessed by third parties.

3. Purpose of processing your personal data

We process the data we have collated as a means to constantly improve the products and services you request, to manage the usage and access you request to our applications, products and information, to nurture our business relationship with you, to monitor and improve the performance of our services, to identify, prevent and resolve illegal activity, and to provide you with advertising, information or marketing material about products or services that we think may be of interest to you based on your data. The data can also be forwarded to business partners and service providers, selected associate businesses, institutes and/or legally authorised state authorities in Switzerland for the purpose of editing and storage within the framework of the purposes named above.

4. Cookies

Cookies help us to make your visit to our websites easier, more enjoyable and more useful. Cookies are data files that your web browser automatically saves onto the hard disk of your computer whenever you visit our site and use our online services.

You can independently optimise the security settings in your browser and disable or block the cookies used by us, although certain Angst+Pfister and APSOparts services may no longer be (fully) available.

5. User tracking and analysis tools /social media

The usage of our digital services is measured and analysed by various technical systems, primarily by third-party providers such as Google Analytics. These measurements can be made in both the anonymous and personalised form. In the process, it is possible that the saved data may be forwarded by us or third-party providers of such technical systems for processing by third parties nationally or internationally. The most commonly used and best-known of analytical tools is Google Analytics, a service provided by Google Inc. In principle the collated data could be transmitted to a Google server in the USA. Angst+Pfister has no detailed knowledge of which data is being forwarded to the third-party providers, where the data is being forwarded or whether it is anonymised.

6. Integration of third-party services / social media

Our digital services are networked with functions and systems of third parties in a number of ways, for instance by plug-ins from social networks of third parties including Facebook, Twitter, etc. If you have a user account with these third parties, in certain circumstances it may also be possible for these third parties to measure and analyse your usage of our digital services. As such, other personal data such as the IP address, browser settings and other parameters may be passed on to these third parties and saved there. We do not have any control over such use by third parties of personal data and do not assume any responsibility or liability. Angst+Pfister has no detailed knowledge of which data is being forwarded to the third-party providers, where the data is being forwarded or whether it is anonymised.

7. Communication by email (newsletters, etc.)

The following is intended to inform you of the content of our newsletters as well as the method of signup, sending and the statistical analysis, as well as your right to object to the information. By signing up to our newsletter, you are agreeing to receive the newsletter and to the procedures described.

a) Content of the newsletter

We send newsletters, emails and other promotional electronic notifications (hereinafter referred to as “Newsletter”) only when we have the permission of the recipient or legal permission.

b) Signup

Signup for our Newsletter follows the double opt-in method. Once you have signed up, you will receive an email containing a confirmation of registration. The confirmation is necessary to ensure the email address is for a valid inbox.

Signup for the Newsletter is recorded in order to prove that the signup is in accordance with legal requirements. The time of signup and time of confirmation are logged, as is the IP address.

c) Signup data

Your email address is sufficient data to signup for the Newsletter. Further information is voluntary and serves to personalise your Newsletter.

d) Statistical analysis

The Newsletters contain a web beacon, which alerts our server that the Newsletter is being opened. When a Newsletter is opened, technical information such as browser details and your system as well as your IP address and time of opening are recorded. The information is used to make technical improvements to our services by means of the technical information or the target group and their reading habits by means of the retrieval location (obtained from your IP address) or the time of access.

The statistical information includes ascertaining whether the Newsletters are opened, when they were opened and which links were clicked. This information may then be mapped to the individual recipients of the Newsletter for technical reasons. However, we do not aspire to monitor individual users. The analysis helps us to recognise the reading habits of our users and to tailor our content or information according to our users’ interests.

e) Unsubscribe/cancellation

You can unsubscribe, that is cancel your consent to our Newsletter, at any time. A link to unsubscribe from the Newsletter can be found at the end of every Newsletter.

f) Legal basis of the General Data Protection Regulation

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which takes effect on 25 May 2018, we hereby give notice that consent given to the sending of email addresses is regulated pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a, 7 GDPR in addition to Art. 7 para. 2 lit. 3, resp. para. 3 of the Swiss Act on Unfair Competition (UGW). Collection and analysis of statistical data and logging of the signup process are performed on the legitimate interests basis, which is regulated by Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. We are interested in establishing a user-friendly and secure Newsletter system that both serves our business interests and fulfils our users’ expectations.

We emphasise that you can cancel future processing of your personal data in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR at any time. Your objection can be made specifically against processing for the purposes of direct marketing.
